Hangovers. Were they ever fun? Jordyn had yet to experience a hangover that she would classify as enjoyable. And right now, she was having another less than enjoyable experience, making love to the porcelain toilet inside the starbucks on the corner of Main and King. This was the life Jordyn was living right now, just wandering during the day and partying hard all night just to wake up and doing the same thing over again. She was on an endless loop that was getting her nowhere but that was really the price that she paid for dropping out of school in grade eleven. In Jordyn's family, that just wasn't acceptable and if you didn't stay in school you weren't accepted into the family. No, exactly the opposite. In fact, they rejected her. Threw her out. And that's why she was here.
But truth be told, Jordyn liked the life she lived. There was something so thrilling about it. Nothing glamorous, definately not. She lived in a grimy motel room that was often inhabited by prostitutes and their clients or seedy drug dealers. She worked long shifts at the local bar, cleaning puke up off the floor. It was nasty, sure, but it was the only way to do it and she thought it was an honest living. At least, that was what she told herself. There were times at night, those quiet times where your mind was free to think. She thought about how she was living a lie, working hard for nothing, suffering, going through withdrawl and being used and abused by the men she slept with. Sometimes she thought all she needed was someone to stick with her for a little longer and then she'd be fine. But all she could do for now was do what she did best. Smoke, drinking, snort, and party hard.
And all those things left her with awful hangovers but she hadn't had one this bad for quite a while. She'd been throwing up since eleven and it was now one thirty. There was nothing in her body left to upchuck now so she thought that she just needed some advil and coffee and she'd be fine. Luckily enough, she was already in the starbucks. Picking herself up off the bathroom floor she flushed the toilet, rinsed out her mouth, took some pills and left the bathroom, beelining for the counter. "Hey, can I get a large non-fat latte, please?" she asked the guy at the counter, and then paid with the little money she had left. As she waited for her coffee to be made she found a small table that wasn't taken. Picking up her drink, she went over and snagged it, moving the paper that had been neglected by their previous owner. The sudoku on the first page caught her eye so she pulled that out and started working on that as she enjoyed her coffee, wondering what today would bring.

Emery walked down the semi-busy street pleased with the way things turned out. Last week she had been graduating looking forward to nothing but going to the local college. Thank god she got this job, her dream job. Honestly what could be better then being the personal photographer of her favorite band? Then Hunger and thrist struck her, as it often happened one second she was fine the next she was ravanous. She saw a Starbucks on the next corner and darted through traffic to the shop.
Emery entered the rich smell of caremel seeping attacked her, leaving her in a hungery daze. She shifted through her bookbag filled with lenses and her camera, hidden benieth a hat was her wallet. She rushed to the counter and ordered a muffin and a double shot carmal machiotto. She pulled out the rest of her money seeing as she was yet to get paid. She took the muffin smiling as the smell drifted into her warming her from the inside out.
Looking around the crowded cafe she couldn't see an empty table. Frowning she sighed hoping someone would see she wanted to sit and leave. Sadly this was not high school and she wasn't the queen of the world. She looked down to her beat-up black chuck taylors she focused and went to the nearest table and gave a curt grin. "Um could I sit here?" she asked the current table tentant a girl doing a sudoku who smelt funny but didn't look like she would turn out to be a creeper.

Jordyn looked down at the puzzle. Somewhere, something had gone wrong. The nines weren't matching up in the way they should have been. She must have put something extra in there, something not right. But she couldn't figure out where it was But oh well, life's a bitch. Just like this Sudoku.
She looked up as someone began to speak to her and was met with the face of a cute blonde girl. She was petite, not unlike herself and had a sweet smile. It was infectious and Jordyn felt herself begin to smile as well.
"Sure, sit," she said, clearing her stuff from the chair and table and throwing it into her oversized purse, then looking back at her puzzle. After a few minutes, though, she had had enough. There was no making it better and she, too ditched the sudoku in her bag.
With another sip of her coffee, she looked up at the other girl and noted the camera. "Are you a photographer?"

A wave of relief fell over Emery as the girl smiled and said she could sit. Emery sat down and gave a gracious smile, she may only be 18 but she wasn't completely lacking in manners. She glanced to her muffin taunting her almost, sadly Emery wasn't going to rip into it so she just ripped a small corner off and ate it smiling as the warmth filled her mouth.
Yes was the only word rippling through her mind. She took a sip of her drink to chase down the muffin. She opened her bag and dropped in her wallet which was sadly empty. Of course she would get her check after a few clicks of her camera.
Hearing the girl ask her a question she looked up. How did she know she was a photographer? She didn't think she screamed I TAKE PICTURES, then she felt her camera in her hand. "Uh yea I just got hired by Jumping Ambulances," Emery smiled a little happy how professional she sounded, after all her last job was taking pictures at Kmart.

Jordyn listened intently to the other girl. She really was a photographer. Jordyn had a lot of respect for people who were talented and artsy. They always had something she didn't. Something to be good at. Sure, Jordyn was good at getting attention and sweet talking anyone but she had never been good at school, at sports, at arts. She was good at getting drunk and that was about it.
Nodding, Jordyn raised her eyebrows. "No way! You're with one of the bands." She thought that all those moody musicians stayed locked up in their caravans until they had a show, a time to shine. Jordyn was the exact opposite, she was always out and about. But she supposed that this girl wasn't actually a musician. She was a photographer, as they had already discussed.
"That's so cool. I've never been able to really talk to anyone who was part of the festival. But I think it's really cool." Jordyn was really into music and she always seemed herself moving around with the festival. It was just the way she went. "So what kind of stuff do you have to do for them?" she asked.
Smiling up at the other girl over her coffee, she realized this was the first girl that she had spoken to in a long time. It was a weird thought but most of her days were filled with guys. She smiled at this thought. Things were maybe looking up for her. "I'm Jordyn by the way..."

Emery took another warm bite and drink happily letting herself be warmed. Starbucks was seriously the best place ever now. She smile dot because she wasn't sitting with some creeper or someone who was completely full of shit. She began to wander ho though up things like baking. Really who decided flour sugar milk and eggs would make a cake when heated? Honestly whoever they were they were a genius.
Emery was sprung from her deep thought when the girl started talking. She began blushing slightly for having drifted off for god knows how long. She took small sip before replying. She liked that she was talking to someone besides security guards who were convinced she was 15. "Yea it's my dream job, really I'm still stunned they hired me." it was true they had to be crazy to hire someone fresh out of high school.
Emery took another drink happily becoming addicted to the caffeine. After all it was better then her other inf actuations. She went for another but found the paper cup empty. "Well I haven't done much yet but I guess I'm going to take pictures at concerts and privet photo shots when needed," it was true Emery had gotten no notifications of any up coming events sadly.
Emery smiled hearing the name, Jordyn some how it fit this stranger perfectly not like most names some names Emery could never see matched with the owner but Jordyn fit her like a glove. "Hi Jordyn I'm Emery Asher," Emery instantly felt stupid for saying her last name too but thats how she always introduced herself. She kinda liked her last name.
