 TRAFFiC can have a lot of "purposes", really. however, the main aspiration of the site is to allow its characters and players to accomplish a variety of things, mainly to build their character's "fame" or "name" up. there is a set point system in which a character may grow and grow with their level of "fame". there are also gossip sites and specific tabloids that will either exploit or completely trash your character. either way, it's up in the air. characters may gain points via activities or contests. regardless, it's a secret point system (for the most part, anyway, aside from obvious contests and the like), that only the admins are aware of.
the entire point of this site is to roleplay out the "road to fame." some will fail; others may make it; others may have already made it but are stumbling; and others may just be innocent bystanders. no matter what the outcome may be, things are going to get crazy and hectic.
journalists and talent agents play huge roles on this site, as well as those secret few who manage the gossip/celebrity trash site. you don't have to be famous to be talked about, but if you're talked about, you're definitely going to wind up famous... or perhaps even notorious.
no matter what, though: you can expect a dangerous road ahead, full of the good, the bad, and the ugly.
become a dancer, a lawyer, an actor, an author, a historian, a model, a producer, a fashion designer, a talkshow host, the start of a famous empire, a singer, a band member, a journalist, a football player, a doctor--anything. it's up to you. you'll either become famous, get lost trying, or watch as others attempt to claw their way to the top, setting everything aflame on their path to fame.
it's sure to be a hell of an experience.
and what better a place to play in than good ol' New York City?
