Jonathan is not a joker and people think he doesn't have a sense of humor. He does, though, it's just rather dry. He avoids making jokes because they're often crude and nasty and has learned that people don't appreciate it. He'll welcome all forms of humor, however, and even though he's not the laughing fit type of guy, he'll send you a grin to let you know he's amused.
Another reason people see Jonathan as serious is the fact that he's a perfectionist. This is his virtue or his curse. Not only does he pressure himself to get better but those that work with him and it leads to regular fights. Fortunately, those close to him already know how to handle his strong drive and focus and don't take it personal. Because it really isn't.
That side of John's personality leads him to get overanxious about things in general and when the time comes to unwind, he puts the same amount of effort into that as well. It's hard for him to know when to stop and although he can go without booze or substances for days at a time, when he consumes them, it's not just a little.
John is mostly cold with strangers but is able to open up a lot more with the people he sees on a daily basis. He is supportive, protective and somebody to have a good time with. But his temper is quick and John likes to damn everything to hell.
Because he is always looking to improve himself, Jonathan reads a lot and is into all forms of art. When stressed, he comes off as arrogant and likes to remind people of all that he knows about. This has turned him into a stubborn person and hardly listens during arguments.

Devon never finished school. He started working with his father at the mechanic shop because the family needed the money and could no longer spend it on their son's education. So at age sixteen, Dev, was on his way to becoming a car expert along with his father, who'd die a couple of years later. It was Devon's job now to bring home the bacon and the pressure to support the rest of his family drove him to work like a maniac. He set his mind to it and can say that he became the best in mechanic in Santa Monica and let the people hear about it.
He met Mirna when she stumbled upon the shop with her father and was left thunderstruck. She was the prettiest redhead he'd ever laid eyes on (or so he put it then) and way out of his league (or so she put it). Devon was still just a mechanic. But being the determined bastard he was, Mirna dropped her Hard To Get game not long after they met. Against her family's wishes, she went and married Devon and the two bought a small house together. She decided against going to college and instead got a job as a waitress in order to build a life with her new husband and them being young and active, a baby soon came.
Jonathan was born and named after his deceased grandfather. When he came into the world, things were still pink and shiny. His parents were optimistic about the future and crazy in love. Like young people are. But reality started coming down on them like it usually does and things lost their shine slowly and surely. Tensions grew in the Warrington home. Mirna got to realize that love wasn't enough to keep a wife happy and it was hard to take care of a small child while working all day at a crappy restaurant. Jonathan was alone a lot. He'd spend his afternoons at the music store around the corner where the nice girl that worked there would let him hold the guitars and try the drums. He got to know a lot about music and instruments and taught himself how to play.
The boy was only eleven years old when his mother finally took off. He came home from school to find her missing as well as all of her clothes and belongings. She left fresh cookies on the kitchen counter and no note. Jonathan went straight to the mechanic shop to tell his father what had happened. They threw the cookies in the garbage.
Jonathan began skipping school with a small posse. His life from that point on was music, weed, and shoplifting. He set up a small porn and weed business in his garage that his father never suspected about and saved up enough to buy his first guitar, a black Fender. Shortly after that, he dropped the porn and weed business and tried to start up a band. He went through several bands before Death's Edge was born.
The life of local rock stars appealed to John. He chose to skip college in order to pay full attention to the band and tries to make up for it by reading a lot and being interested in culture. While his father isn't entirely happy about the goals John, he knows he is his father's son and nothing will stop him from doing what he wants.
Jonathan is really happy with how the band's coming but the pressure he puts on himself and the high expectations make him turn to pills every once in a while and he likes to combine them with booze to enhance the effect of the liquid. It's hella fun.
