Milo Martin
Now, I'm sure you ALL know the band Scheduled Nurse. Some because of what you have heard about rivalries and other such things. The rest of you know them for their great music and Milo Martin, helps make that fantastic music.
Hey Milo, Thank you so much for taking time out of your hectic schedule to talk to us. How are you enjoying Euphoria? I’m loving it! I’m a little homesick of course – I miss my dog – but otherwise, it’s incredible. I’m traveling, I’m meeting new people, I’m getting my music out there. It’s a fabulous time!
Well, I'm glad you are having fun then! Anyway, Who would you say are your Role Models? Musically, my role models are the Beatles. They tested a lot of boundaries when it came to writing music. They’ve certainly inspired me when it came to songwriting. So have a lot of writers, like Hunter Foster and Chuck Palahniuk. Personally, I gotta say maybe Johnny Depp. I want to be Johnny Depp.
Do you get nervous before performing? If so what do you do to calm down? I don’t get nervous, really. I get those butterflies in the stomach but those are more from excitement than nerves! As for calming down, I jump in place. Really! I jump up and down a few times, just to shake off that extra energy, and I’m ready to go.
Well, I suppose that is one way of getting rid of energy [Laugh] anyway, What are your thoughts on Roxanne's blog on you and Gabe? Roxanne isn’t a real journalist; she’s a gossip columnist. That’s all she does – feeds on gossip. She’s a shark. The thing to remember is, gossip may or may not be true. So all I have to say about her blog is don’t believe ninety percent of it, and be skeptical about the remaining ten percent.
Any crushes or romances going on at the moment? Hmm. [laughs] Uh, well … there is a little something going on with ... someone. I won’t say much about it, except that it’s getting pretty serious. We’re planning on maybe moving in together once the tour is over.
[Gasp] Well, that must be serious if you've gone that far! Have You got any favourites out of everyone on the tour? If so who? Favorites? Well, I think the guys from the Shake It Ups are pretty cool. They’re young, but they seem to know what they’re doing. They’re impressive, dedicated. I think they have what it takes to beat everyone else!
When did you become a musician and how did you start? I started playing guitar when I was fourteen years old. The guitar was a gift from my grandmother. It was a really basic little acoustic guitar, not even the best quality or anything, but it was what we could afford. Anyway, I taught myself how to play and within a year I was playing gigs solo, doing really crappy acoustic covers at these little dive bars in New York City. You know, the ones that are really sketchy and they don’t card – they couldn’t even care less how old I was. I didn't meet Alex and Locky until I was seventeen. So for three years I was a one-man show!
Aww, that sounds awesome so you started from like being Solo to what we know as Scheduled Nurse today? What are your goals for the end of the tour? Well, regardless of whether or not we win Euphoria, I hope something comes out of it, some sort of fame or recognition. Even though we’ve got a pretty good following thanks to MySpace. It was incredible how many fans we gained through that venue. I’ve had people coming up to me and telling me that they’ve been listening to us on MySpace for a few years! It’s incredible, it really is.
Yeah, When fans get into music they never stop! [Laugh] If you could make a dream band with anyone from the Euphoria tour, who would be in it and what would they play?
Wow. That’s like a homework assignment! Well, like I said, the Shake It Ups seem to know what they’re doing! I think their bassist Jayson is a pretty dedicated performer. As for drums, well, I don’t think you can get any better than our Panda. I can’t think of a better performer – male or female! As for vocals, Holiday Harper from Across The Spoiled Sea is really sweet. She’s got a powerhouse voice despite being so small! But to be honest, I’m already in my dream band! Scheduled Nurse is my family, you know? I can’t imagine playing with anyone else. But hey, it’s fun to pretend.
Aww, I think that is an awesome answer! Anyway, this is my last question for you today. What would you change about the Euphoria if anything? I don’t think there’s anything I’d change. Well, except maybe sleeping arrangements!
