locky hartlet !
Thanks for taking some time out of your hectic schedule to talk to us! How are you liking Euphoria so far?
"Yes, I'm not sure how I got time off from my hectic schedule of using an infinite amount of hair products and playing the Wii on the caravan to do this interview, but somehow I did. It's crazy. Anyway, Euphoria's been going pretty awesome so far if you ask me. But then there's been a lot of shit going on behind the scenes, as everyone knows already, but I try to make it all about the music, you know? Since that's why I agreed to be a part of it in the first place; for the music. So I'd say it's going pretty well, the fans seem to be responding pretty nicely to everything, and a bunch of these fans even gave me this cute little teddy bear a few days ago. So that's good, now I have someone to cuddle. I miss my cat though."
There are rumors that you've been romantically linked with Sighted South's rhythm guitarist Katy Peterson. What do you have to say about that?
Ha, I knew that it wouldn't be all that long before that whole issue came up. Okay, I wish I knew what to say about that. It's a really complicated situation right now, and I'm not really sure how things stand between us. I can say that we are not dating at the moment, though. We've dated on and off in the past, but I'm not sure if it could work out again, and after that whole incident that happened between her and my best friend Milo become public from Roxanne's blog, a few of my fans have even told me that I could do much better. [laughs] I honestly don't know what's going to happen between the two of us. I haven't spoken to her in awhile, and I'm not sure how much she really cares about me. She's a really amazing girl, though, amazing and talented and beautiful too. She's been a big part of my life for awhile. If anything happens between us again, I'll be sure to let you all know. There's someone else I've had my eyes on for awhile too though, but that's a big secret.
Well, You can't blame me for asking! Apparently Roxanne's blog has been stirring up some nasty debates between bands and their members. What's your feelings on the blog?
Well actually, I love having my personal life being written about by a fucking stalker. It's the best. It makes me feel like Tom Cruise, only sexier. It's some crazy shit.
Well, While we're on the topic of rumors, How are things between Scheduled nurse and Sighted South?
I don't think things are as bad as some of the rumors make them out to be. Honestly, I don't have much of a problem with any of the members in Sighted South. Sometimes they piss me off, sure, but I'm kind of an easy person to piss off so it's not a really big deal. I think that some fans come to the festival expecting to see Milo attack Gabe, foaming at the mouth and stabbing Gabe's eyes out with one of Panda's drumsticks... [laughs] ...but it's not like that. We're all adults, we can control ourselves. Aside from stupid little drama at times, things are generally cool between us. But Scheduled Nurse is still a hundred times better. Haha, I better clarify that that was a joke before a Sighted South fanatic decides to kill me at the next show.
[laughs] When you're getting ready for a show, is there anything you like to do? We know Dante from the shake it up's goes for a walk, what do you do?
The Shake It Up's are amazing. Anyway, I guess it sort of depends on my mood when it comes to what I like to do before a show. Sometimes I'll watch the Notebook, if I have enough time then maybe the Titanic instead. Jumping on a trampoline is something else that I've done a few times. Or listening to Hannah Montana on full blast while jumping up and down on my bed in Hello Kitty pajamas. My pre-show preparations change frequently but they're all pretty bad ass, as you can tell.
Just for all the fans out there, your ideal date would be?
My ideal date would be with to take an amazingly attractive, sweet, silly person to a show. Not my own band's show of course, just some random show. I know it's pretty stupid but I'm always jealous when I see couples cuddling in the crowd. I've never really gotten to do that. I think it would be fun, since it's all laid back and stuff. We could just goof off beforehand, I'd give them a piggyback ride and lots of eskimo kisses. Then we could watch the band for awhile, and I'd go in the pit and break my pinky toe. Then they'd give me hugs to make the booboo better and we could get matching shirts from the merch stand. We could get ice cream afterwards and listen to music way too loudly in the car on the way home, where we could watch a movie and stuff. It wouldn't work if my date wasn't weird though. I only like weird people. It's kind of creepy how I've got this all planned out, isn't it? I should shut up.
So, How did you first get into music? Was there a definite starting point for you?
I've always liked music. My sister and I grew up with it, only we listened to stupid stuff back then, like the Backstreet Boys and shit. I really got into it when I got my first guitar for Christmas in, like, 5th grade. I fell in love with it, and I've been playing ever since. I wasn't really serious about being in a real band until towards the end of high school, though. My parents didn't like it, they thought it wouldn't get me anywhere. It's kind of crazy how it all worked out though. Right now, I don't think I could ask for a better job. It's what I love doing.
Is there much interaction between people from different bands on tour?
Yeah, there is. I can't say that I know each of the bands very well, but everyone that I've met so far is really great. They're all really talented too. There's a lot of variety in the kind of bands that are in the festival. It's pretty cool. Lately all I've been listening to is Across the Spoiled Sea, they're here on the festival, I've watched their set a few times and it's really nice. The lead singer is pretty cute too. Haha.
Awesome. Just as a last question, Anything you'd like to say to any aspiring musicians out there?
Have good hair, people like that. You have no idea how many times a day my hair gets complimented. Write good lyrics. It bugs me when bands have awesome songs, and then you look up the lyrics and they're really stupid. There's this one Hilary Duff song where she goes, "if the light is off then it isn't on." Like, what the fuck? That's dumb. And finally, use a condom every time.
