holiday harper !
Across the spoiled sea are yet another band currently touring on the Euphoria Music Festival, hailing from Dublin, Ireland this band achieves their signature sound by swapping vocals between two of the members. We were lucky enough to nab an interview with pint sized vocalist and keyboardist Holiday Harper, who took the time out of her hectic schedule to come out and talk to us about life on tour.
How are you finding the whole Euphoria Experience?
Oh, it's wonderful! I'm extremely grateful that i've been given the chance to meet so many people who are interested in the same things I am. It was a bit daunting at first though!
Hmm, It must be amazing. So, have you had the chance to connect with anyone yet? Any crushes, things like that?
Oh, [laughs] none as yet, Isn't that disappointing? And here I was under the impression that i'd fall head over heels in love with someone on tour at first sight.
[Laughs] Well, that's a shame. I'm sure you'll find someone soon though! Anyway, back to work. What is your best experience being here at Euphoria?
Well, just the chance that I got to meet a whole bunch of new people is pretty amazing, and also just the fact that I get to travel to heap of different places! I've never really been out of Dublin before. I love the fact that our band being on tour means that can get our music out there and just do what we love.
Hmm, When did you become a musician, and how did you start?
Well, throughout high school I did school choir, so I guess you could call that my starting point. A while through my junior year one of my friends introduced me to the piano, because she needed some help with a small duet. I immediately fell in love with it, and I used up most of my time to practice. [laughs] I think it's safe to say my parents weren't ecstatic about it, but they managed.
[Laugh] But I Bet They're Impressed Now. Who would you say is your Role Model in the Music Industry?
Ooh. That's a tough one. I'd probably have to say Gabe Grey, or Katy Peterson. Just because they've both been through a lot of shit, but they don't let it bring them down, or affect their music. You have to respect things like that. I admire both of them so much!
What do you think of Dante Beck? Is he a good guy in your eyes?
Uhh. weird question. I love his music! But I haven't really had time to meet him on tour yet, hopefully I will someday! Everthing's just been so hectic ! There's a lot of people I still have to meet.
Hmm, well that's good I suppose. What are your aims for the end of this tour?
Well, I've always wanted to meet new people and travel, so I'm doing that already! Just to better my music, I've already moved forwards in leaps and bounds, but there's so much I can learn from all the other bands on tour ! And I'd love to keep in contact with people I've met after Euphoria's over.
Keeping contact with friends is good. Who would you say are your best friends here?
Oh, That's a tough choice ! [laughs] There's so many wonderful people, but I'd have to say that I get along really well with Katy Peterson, she's a doll. We clicked right from the start. Gabe the babe's one of the nicest people on tour too. X-it Hollywood's photographer Gregory Kingston's another pretty amazing person in my eyes. I was surprised to see him here!
Right. So for my last two questions. If you could make a dream band with everyone on this tour, who would play what instrument?
Another tough one. My ideal band would probably be everyone on tour just mashed together into superhumans, but that's not a very good answer, is it? [laughs] Well, I'd have to say Alex Weathers on vocals, his voice is amazing! Jayson Willis on backup vocals and bass. It's probably be a three way tie between him, Locky and Reagan though. K-K-Katy Peterson on rhythm guitar, and Gabe doing extra vocals just because we love him. Then we'd have Daniel Johnson on drums, that kid's got skill. I'd probably be up the back doing some weird keyboard doodad thing, and last but not least, Erin Mitchells on keytar. Because I'm of the opinion that we should have one, if not three keytar players in this insane band we're making.
Hmm, well that's rather strange! Right, last question. If there was anything you could change about this tour? What would it be?
In general, I think it's a wonderful tour! Everything so far has been exceptional. The level of help, the fans participation and just the general mood. The only thing i'd probably change is the level of bitchiness and gossip to some band members. It's really not necessary, and it's rude to pry.
Thanks for having me! It's been wonderful.
