`THE WAR TO END ALL WARS
things are changing in the states
The United States was the largest superpower in the worlds for decades. Dozens upon dozen’s of years, they were the elite. The had the highest life expectancy, the greatest economy, the most advanced technology- for all intensive purposes, it was the dream of humanity to live in the melting pot of a nation; where everything was handed to you on a silver platter. Where you could have your cake and eat it too. Where you could be anything you wanted to be, regardless of race, religion, or sexual orientation. Everything was accepted, everything was appreciated. Cultural divides did not exist; there was no poverty, there was no hunger. There was no hurt. As soon as you crossed the American border, illness was cured, money was handed to you, and pain was erased, both emotional and physical.
The United States was the biggest lie in the world for decades. Dozen’s upon dozen’s of years, they advertised their greatness, their individuality, what set them above the rest. They advertised power and strength- never adding in the poverty that struck the streets, the crime rate, the school shootings, the death. The demise to the poor, and the reward to the rich. They thought they were invincible, they thought they were the best. They thought that they would be on top forever. They were wrong.
`ONLY THE DEAD CAN SEE THE END OF WAR
an explosion kills millions
No one was sure how it happened- everything was so confusing. It started off so small, so miniscule of a thing, so harmless of an event. An explosion in the middle of the desert, a make shift bomb. Nothing too severe, nothing too extreme. The government was called in, and researched it; deeming nothing more than harmless- some high school kids messing around, although they never did find who committed the deed. Months passed, with nothing out of the ordinary occurring. Life continued, as if often did when left alone. Babies were born, and people died, life was taken for granted in more ways than one, and the selfishness of humanity prevailed, as it had for hundreds, if not thousands of years. The fat of the nation was ever-prominent in their oil consumption, in their food consumption, in their hunger for money. America still, was a consumer, and never a giver.
Explosions in every major city, bombs going off- Dallas, New York, Las Angeles, Atlanta, Miami, Detroit, Boston, San Francisco- there seemed to be not a state, nor a major city that was untouched. There was destruction, there was death, and there was a dirty trail leading back to the perpetrators- not one country, but three. Germany, Russia, and Norway- three countries that not only the United States had no trouble with, but had also been Allied with. There was no rhyme or reason to what was going on, there was confusion, there was mass death, and there were three of the worlds most highly populated countries working against the US, with half their forces down. Millions died- not only in the initial explosions, but in the biological sense as well- Anthrax was released into the city causing a caramel haze when the sunlight hit it- a Champaign Supernova, and there was war.
`WE WILL NOT GO QUIETLY INTO THE NIGHT
a nation fights for survival
“We did not ask for this- but we will take it. We will take what god has given us, and we will work against it. They say the odds are not in our favor- but when have they ever been? We will feed off the negativity, we will take the bad and produce good. We will prevail, just as we always have. America, will. Not. Die.”
-President Julian Cane
The odds were against, and the losses were great. The nation was on shambles- and battles were fought. Biological, combatual, land and see, heaven and hell. Death’s were staggering, and odds were against the states. And yet- as people often do, in times of war, the nation pulled together, or what was left of it, creating an undeniable sense of patriotism, creating an undeniable morale- things that the nation hadn’t seen in decades seemed to come together, and the things that the states had preached for all those years- acceptance regardless of religion, regardless of race of sexuality, held true and fast. There was no hate- only for the ones that had destroyed their cities, and there was progress.
`AND WITH DISASTER, CAME REBIRTH
revolution is in the air
Battles were won, but the war was not- not yet, atleast. There was progress, there was compliance from the New Alliance- U.S, England, France, Mexico, China- all of these nations banned together. Previously neutral nations such as Australia joined the fight, and in time, the war was won. Or, atleast- that was what the papers claimed. Tensions were high, and there were miniscule battles in the papers bi-weakly, but the cities did begin to rebuild. The grass grew, children played, the stars gleamed in the sky brighter than ever- but the people were hurt, they were broken- the 47 million death tole was not unnoticed, and sacrifices were made.
“We survived, we grew, and we learned. That, is the point. We survived, and we will continue to survive. No one will ever bring us down, for we are the United States of America- and we will never surrender-”
The year is 2027, and we will not go quietly
