Every winter the stars have their own little escape to get away from all the limelight and the fame. It's not as much of an escape as it is a retreat. Every January Hollywood packs it's bags which includes directors, writers, proudcers, actors, managers, press, and other non wanted celebrities and heads off to Park City Utah, home of the famous Sundance Film Festival. For ten days in January over a hundred new movies are shown some better than others, some with big names, and some with stars trying to break into the buisness. Park City is a nice quaint small city. It's basically a mini Salt Lake City. The town is also known for it's skiing which many of the locals take party in almost everyday during the months of November to late March. Some locals try and get tickets to this momentous event but it's hard for even the B-List celebrities to get them.
The festival has changed over the decades from a low-profile venue for small-budget, independent creators from outside the Hollywood system to a media extravaganza for Hollywood celebrity actors, directors from studios that are subsidiaries of the major studios, paparazzi, and luxury-goods company sponsors giving gifts to the attendees. In recent years the festival has strived to distance itself from these distractions, and in 2007 handed out buttons to all film-makers that read, "Focus on Film." Sundance has now arrived and the town is ready to be taken by storm once again. Hollywood can finally get a chance to see what real lights are and not the stars there used to. It's a chance to see central lights.
